DOMAIN GUIDES

Manage your domain with confidence.

Understand DNS records, nameservers, DNSSEC and safe changes to an existing website or email service.

Your account is the starting point for a domain registered or transferred through RegisterDomain.uk. Open My Domains, select the domain and review its available controls.

DNS records

A and AAAA records point a name to an IP address. CNAME records alias one name to another. MX records direct email, while TXT records often verify ownership or publish email policies. Use the exact values supplied by your hosting or mail provider.

Review before saving

Check the record name, type, value, priority and TTL. Review the proposed change, then save it. The account shows whether the provider has applied it or whether it is still pending or needs attention.

Nameservers

Nameservers select the DNS service that answers for your domain. Changing them can affect every website and email record. Prepare and check the complete destination zone before switching. Keep your existing nameservers if you want your current provider to continue hosting DNS.

DNSSEC

DNSSEC connects signed DNS responses with a DS record at the parent registry. Changing DNS providers without updating that relationship can break resolution. Use the guided review and resolve any DNSSEC warnings before a nameserver change.

Preserve working services

Do not remove existing MX, SPF, DKIM or other records unless the relevant provider instructs you to do so and you intend to change the service. If a change is pending, check its status rather than repeatedly submitting it.
